Cesidio Tallini’s Love Signs

Back in 1970, a writer by the name of Steven Schmidt published a book entitled Astrology 14. It proposed revolutionising astrology in at least two ways:

1. By having the beginning of the Zodiac start with the actual constellation the Sun is transiting in at this moment on the day of the Vernal Equinox.
2. By adding two additional signs to the Zodiac, Cetus and Ophiuchus.

According to Schmidt, this would have made Astrology more “scientific”, and a more respectable profession. Although there is nothing wrong with having astrology reflect the heavens a little more closely, the problem with Schmidt’s approach is multi-fold.

First, astrology would still be considered a pseudo-science by most astronomers even with Schmidt’s reforms, because most astronomers don’t believe the positions of the planets at the moment of one’s birth have anything to do with one’s personality, or one’s destiny; in other words, the assumption that astronomers don’t consider astrology scientific is correct, but Schmidt fails to understand the real source of the problem.

Second, the Sun at the Vernal Equinox does not start at Zero Degrees in the constellation of Pisces if we really want to get technical about the precession of the equinoxes, but Schmidt’s approach ignores that reality entirely.

Third, the length of the constellations is not equal like the length of the astrological signs.

Fourth, an astrological sign is not the same thing as an astronomical constellation.

Fifth, the ecliptic, which is the only thing that matters in astrology (even the latitude North or South of the ecliptic doesn’t matter in astrology), strictly speaking crosses 13 constellations now, not 14.

Sixth, the ecliptic will cross a 14th constellation in a century or so, but that constellation is not Cetus, but Orion.

Seventh, it is true that astrology once had 10 signs, two less signs than the current 12, so expanding the Zodiac to 14 signs does makes sense given that the ecliptic already crosses 13 constellations; however, Orion is not only a more correct 14th constellation, but it also happens to be opposite to Ophiuchus, and this makes the transition from 12-sign astrology to 14-sign astrology much easier and straightforward.

Essentially there is nothing wrong with reforming astrology in order to reflect the heavens a little more closely, but Schmidt’s approach literally throws real astrology out, and replaces it with hocus pocus astronomy without a meaning. These are the reasons why I believe Bucksfanian astrology is superior to Schmidt’s Astrology 14.

In Bucksfanian astrology the Zodiac still starts with Aries, and the sign of Aries still has its traditional First House meaning. Schmidt’s Astrology 14, on the other hand, makes Pisces the first sign, and the First House as well. This is needlessly confusing, and turns wholesome tropical astrology into a nightmarish and bad sideral astrology. I’m not surprised if Schmidt’s proposed reforms never caught on.

Also, Bucksfanian astrology starts including some celestial bodies other than the Sun, the Moon, and the planets, and these inclusions, while original, are not without rationality under an astrological perspective. Bucksfanian astrology eliminates the dual rulership of Venus in Taurus, as well as the dual rulership of Mercury in Virgo, and makes the asteroids of Ceres and Vesta the new rulers of Taurus and Virgo. Also, the additional signs of Bucksfanian astrology, i.e. Orion and Ophiuchus, have unique rulers in Pallas and Chiron. This makes astrology richer, and actually more accurate in an interpretive point of view!

Recently another two revolutions took place in Bucksfanian astrology. I was able to discover some signs where the planets are in exaltation, or the sign in which the influence of a particular planet is very strong, but I soon discovered that while the old Ptolemaic rules of planetary exaltation were useful as a starting point, following the traditional planets of exaltation and fall leads to nothing more than a big and senseless gobbledegook.

The new Bucksfanian Dignities and Debilities curiously point to some traditional Ptolemaic planets in exaltation, but Bucksfanian Dignities and Debilities were created by following a very specific rule! Through this rule, if you know where a planet is in dignity, you also know where it is in exaltation, by simple mathematics! If you were born a few days before the end of a Bucksfanian sign, consider the next sign of the Bucksfanian Zodiac compatible with yourself along with your own Sun sign, and consider also the compatible signs to the next sign as compatible with yourself in relationships.
